NEWS ROUND-UP:WICKLOW: Disgraceful scenes marred a football league final in Arklow at the weekend.

Up to 20 players were involved in an ugly fracas after half-time, but referee Gerry Corbett was able to restore order and finish the match after two rows and issuing red cards to two players.

Neighbouring clubs Tinahely and Avoca were battling for the Division Four South East league title and the match was won by Avoca on a scoreline of 1-7 to 1-4.

Hostilities flared when an umpire sought to draw the attention of the referee to the fact that Tinahely were taking their kick-outs from the 20-metre line and most of the players on the pitch got involved in the row, with punches thrown freely.
