Destined for Aintree

Aintree is on the agenda for Destiny Calls, who continued the revival of trainer Nick Gaselee's fortunes at Newbury yesterday. The John Hughes Trophy on the second day of the Grand National meeting is the target for the nine-year-old, who landed an impressive success in a handicap chase.

Destiny Calls was always travelling strongly under Andy Thornton and surged to the front approaching the third last fence.

He skipped clear of his rivals approaching the last and was eased considerably on the flat to pass the post almost two lengths ahead of O My Love.
