Dallaglio in mind game

RUGBY Test matches: NEW ZEALAND v ENGLAND: Lawrence Dallaglio believes England can get their act together mentally and physically for tomorrow's second Test against the All Blacks.

Head coach Clive Woodward has changed almost half the team in a sweeping response to 36-3 drubbing in Dunedin last weekend.

"It would be very disappointing to play two games down here and not really thoroughly test the All Blacks in any area," said England skipper Dallaglio.

"I felt that most of the work that needs to be done for this Test match is in people's heads individually.

"There is enough experience in this squad to know what basic ingredients are required before you've even kicked a ball. It is down to each and every player to find that, and my job is to fine-tune it."

New Zealand, meanwhile, have still to make a decision on flanker Richie McCaw's fitness. He has been suffering from headaches and has not trained this week, prompting All Blacks coach Graham Henry to put Marty Holah on standby.

AUSTRALIA v SCOTLAND: Scotland coach Matt Williams yesterday reacted angrily to the dismissal of Stuart Grimes's appeal against a two-match ban.

Williams slammed the IRB decision as "inconsistent with the rules of the game". Grimes was cited for "trampling" on number eight David Lyons in the closing stages of Scotland's 35-15 defeat to Australia last Sunday.

"At international level, for that to get a two-week sanction is quite extraordinary," said Williams. "Rucking has been part of our game for its entire life."

Grimes will be replaced in the starting line-up for tomorrow's second Test by lock Iain Fullarton, with Newcastle's Craig Hamilton coming into the Test squad for the first time.

ARGENTINA v WALES: Wales coach Mike Ruddock has brought in four new faces for the second Test in Buenos Aires tomorrow.

Nicky Robinson replaces Ceri Sweeney at outhalf, Tom Shanklin comes in at centre, Huw Bennett at hooker and Dafydd Jones returns to the back row.

Argentina have made three changes with the return of front-row forward Mario Ledesma, scrumhalf Nicolas Fernandez Miranda and outhalf Juan Fernandez Miranda.

GATLAND UNSURE: Wasps coach Warren Gatland is considering returning to his native New Zealand.

The former Ireland coach, who guided Wasps to Heineken European Cup this season, said, "I may see it out or I may just do one more year," and added he has had rugby clubs and unions from both hemispheres beating a path to his door.

BURKE ON MOVE: Australian World Cup winner Matt Burke has signed for the Powergen Cup holders, Newcastle. The versatile 31-year-old back agreed a two-year contract.
