CORK 3-15 WATERFORD 0-7: A hat-trick of goals from full forward David Goulding helped Cork advance to the Munster minor football championship final after they inflicted a 17-points defeat on Waterford at Dungarvan last evening.

The winners got off to a dream start when they were awarded a penalty inside 60 seconds of the throw-in, which Goulding despatched to the net.

Cork went on to lead by 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time with all of 15 minutes having elapsed before Waterford had their opening score from Patrick Hurney.

Goulding had Cork's second goal five minutes after the restart and the visitors had booked their place in the final when they led by 2-10 to 0-6 at the end of the third quarter before Goulding completed his hat-trick four minutes from the finish

Following Goulding's goal five minutes after the resumption Cork kicked three unanswered points to stretch their lead to 13 before Waterford responded with points from Michael Tobin, Mark Gorman and Joey Veale. It was as close as Waterford came as Cork hit a succession of points.
