CORK CITY upset the form book when they scored a 2-1 win over FAI Cup finalists Shelbourne at Turner's Cross last nights.

This was Cork's second victory under new manager Dave Barry and they fully deserved it after guaranteeing their premier division survival with a 2-1 win over Drogheda United at the weekend. Pat Morley gave the home side the lead from a 16th minute penalty, his 11th goal of the season, after John Caulfield's shot came back off the crossbar and Shelbourne centre-half Henry McKop was adjudged to have handled the ball.

Cork, with an unchanged team from Sunday's crucial win over Drogheda, made it 2-0 after 51 minutes when Caulfield's low cross was deflected into his own net by left-back Dave Smith.

Shelbourne, without several first-team players because of injuries, pulled a goal back five minutes from time when Greg Costello scored from another penalty after Cork keeper Jody Byrne brought down his namesake Mick Byrne to get the third yellow card of the night.
