CAMOGIE:CLARE RECORDED their first victory of the campaign when ending Tipperary's 100 per cent record with a 1-11 to 0-9 win in round three of the All-Ireland senior championship at Clarecastle.

The sides were tied 0-4 apiece at the interval. Jill Horan kept Tipperary in touch in the second half as she traded points with Claire McMahon, who finished with eight points to her credit. Clare led by two points when substitute Nora Murphy added a late goal to seal a deserved victory.

Cork produced an impressive display when blitzing previously unbeaten Galway by 2-14 to 0-8.

Jennifer O’Leary was outstanding for the Rebels, striking 2-8, 1-4 of which came from play.

Cork led 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time but, with O’Leary helping herself to 1-5 in the final quarter, there was no way back for Galway.

A goal from Evelyn Quigley helped champions Wexford account for another 100 per cent record as they defeated Kilkenny 1-14 to 1-9 at Wexford Park.

A Michelle Quilty goal five minutes from time reduced the deficit to the minimum. But Wexford showed why they are champions, finishing with four points from Kate Kelly, Ursula Jacob and Una Leacy to cement the verdict.

Two Arlene Watkins goals helped Offaly fend off a strong Dublin effort in the second half to record their first ever win at this level, 2-15 to 0-14.

Meanwhile, in the Féile finals, Cahir from Tipperary claimed the Division One title, defeating St Martin’s of Wexford by 4-10 to 1-7. Offaly’s St Killian’s defeated Sixmilebridge in the Division Two final.
