Clare fall to late point

Clare lost their All-Ireland minor hurling crown in a grandstand finish to this quarter-final

Clare lost their All-Ireland minor hurling crown in a grandstand finish to this quarter-final. Galway's Keith Hayes scored the winner after Clare's Brian Clancy had equalised within the first minute of injury time.

Clare's poor second half undid them - three pointed frees by Clancy, who started at wingback, were their only scores.

They had led by 2-5 to 1-5 at the interval thanks to two goals from Tony Griffin and Daniel Fitzsimons. Galway goalkeeper Ciaran Callaghan pulled down Griffin's lob only to see the ball drop over the line.

Galway were too patchy for their own comfort. They scored a blistering 1-3in the first five minutes without reply.
