'A' Interprovincial Connacht Eagles 31 Ulster Ravens 29:Outhalf Jack Carty landed a difficult penalty from 22 metres on the right wing to snatch victory at the death for Connacht Eagles at the Sportsground yesterday.
Ulster Ravens looked set for victory when tries from Neil McComb and Ross Adair saw them open up a 29-21 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
But a Finn Gormley try got Connacht back in contention in the closing stages.
Ulster were on top initially and hit the front with a try from Chris Cochrane after a good initial burst by Neil McComb, but by the interval Connacht led 14-5.
They ran in two excellent tries, with centre Conor Finn scoring the first after 18 minutes, while another quick move along the backline saw Matt Healy score after good hands by Steve Toal-Lennon and Tadhg Leader.
Rickey Andrew pulled back a try for Ulster four minutes after the restart before a good break by Steve Macauley down the right finished with Toal-Lennon scoring for Connacht.
The game remained competitive throughout and a second try from Cochrane reduced the margin to 21-17 in the final quarter.
Ulster seemed poised for victory with those tries from McComb and Adair before Connacht came with their late rally.
