UL 4-11 St Patrick’s 0-5: UL BRUSHED aside St Patrick’s at Newtownshandrum yesterday

UL 4-11 St Patrick's 0-5:UL BRUSHED aside St Patrick's at Newtownshandrum yesterday. Playing with the wind in the first half they led 0-6 to 0-1 at the break and were never going to be caught after they scored four goals in a 10-minute spell after the break.

Much was expected from the trainee teachers who fielded with Kilkenny duo James Cha Fitzpatrick and Richie Hogan in their side, but the former failed to impress, while Hogan was superbly marked by Tipperary senior Tom Stapleton

UL’s Kilkenny senior Kieran Joyce was majestic at full back, ably assisted by wing back Martin Walsh. Offaly’s Brian Carroll began the goal rush for UL with a brace in a minute, and when Galway’s John Greene and Matt Rush added one each, there was no way back for St Patrick’s.
