Neary goals seal win for Maris, Athlone
GAELIC GAMES:Marist College, Athlone, defeated Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar, yesterday by 3-9 to 0-3 in the second round of the Leinster colleges senior football A match in Ballynacargy. They led 0-4 to 0-0 when Niall Neary goaled to lead 1-5 to 0-1 at the break. Marist hit a brace of goals in the last quarter via Aidan Byrne and again from Neary

Neptune and UL claim national titles with classy displays
BASKETBALL:Bord Gais Neptune ended a 21 year wait for a SuperLeague Cup with an epic performance against UL Eagles at a packed National Basketball Arena last night. With a 23-11 lead going into the second quarter Michael McGinn and Ian McLoughlin had them leading 43 to 30 going into the third quarter. While Eagles battled right to the end, Neptune triumphed 85 to 65 win.
UL Huskies won yet another Women’s National Cup title with a 69-59 victory over Team Montenotte Hotel Cork. UL fashioned an early lead, 22-17, and led at half-time 33-31. UL stretched the lead to nine in the third quarter and secure victory 69-59.
