PHILIP BRENNAN, a fivehandicapper from Old Conna, rediscovered the winning habit when he claimed the Junior Scratch Cup at The Island Golf Club yesterday. A winner of comparable titles at Courtown and the Heath in the past, Brennan fashioned a highly respectable 36 holes total of six over par 148 to beat Malahide's Liam Purdy by two strokes.

Brennan shot rounds of 72 and 76 to claim the prize from a field of 192 players. Purdy, who started yesterday's second round level with Brennan, took the runner up spot after a 78.
