MARY REVELEY looks to have set her stall out for today's richest race, the £20,000 added Hennessy Cognac Special Series Final at Kelso, where she runs Brambles Way and the unbeaten Marello.

The latter will be hot favourite to keep her record intact but may not be able to cope with her stable companion's turn of foot.

Since wearing blinkers Brambles Way's form has been a revelation and the eight year old has trotted up on all three outings this season two claimers and a novices' hurdle.

On his most recent start, Brambles Way was particularly impressive in a novice claimer at Leicester.

With similar going expected at the Berkshire track, Denham Hill can shrug off his 6lb penalty and land the nap.

Venetia Williams' vastly improved Cardinal Rule sits on the back of a hat trick of wins and bids for number four in the Hampshire Novices' Handicap Chase.

There's no big secret to his success bar the fact that he has clearly needed a bit of time to get the hang of things and Williams has been patient with him.

The ball started rolling at Plumpton last month and was quickly followed up at Hereford.

But Cardinal Rule's most impressive victory came last time, again at Hereford, as he ran 14 rivals ragged to beat Super Ritchart 13 lengths.

This is something of an acid test because it represents a step up in class at a top grade track.

Bunt Cardinal Rule has done nothing but impress and is still on a lowly handicap mark.

His style of running suggests he will appreciate this stiffer test of stamina than he has had of late and he is expected to keep up the good work today.

. Frankie Dettori had to settle for second spot in Nad Al Sheba last night when Tamayaz was beaten by Brett Doyle's mount Tropicool in the featured Sheikli Maktoum Al Maktoum Challenge. He won later on Ajlaan.
