Boxing benefactor

Limerick FC have found an unlikely benefactor

Limerick FC have found an unlikely benefactor. Former world heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman (left) has been in touch with club chairman Fr Joe Young and will shortly travel to Ireland and make a substantial donation to the National League First Division club.

Father Young first met Foreman when he accompanied a group of young people from Southill to the US and later attempted a couple of fights in which Foreman was involved. The duo have kept in touch and Foreman, learning of Young's soccer academy, told him he was willing to donate a substantial sum. It is expected that he will travel to Ireland to inspect the facilities at Hogan Park and Fr Young is confident that he will continue to maintain an interest in their affairs.

Foreman (49), will make $10 million for his January 23rd fight with Larry Holmes.
