JIM BOLGER, who normally has one of the strongest bands of two-year-old's in the country, belatedly opened his juvenile account for the season when Marilia recorded a pillar-to-post success in the Riverstown Race at Navan yesterday evening.

The River Falls filly was partnered by lightweight Joanna Morgan in this `auction race' and showed good speed throughout, holding the fast finishing George by a length. Challenger Two, the heavily-backed, odds-on favourite, found little under pressure inside the distance and weakened to finish fifth.

Dermot Weld's string are beginning to get into top gear, and he saddled winner number 14 for the campaign when Just Try Me `battled well' to deny the Bolger-trained Russian Relation by a head in the Beaupark Maiden.

Weld indicated afterwards that he may not have a runner at Royal Ascot next week.
