The 1999 Aintree Grand National winner, Bobbyjo, has been put down. The Tommy Carberry-trained horse endured a setback to the leg injury that ended his racing career earlier in the season.

The 11-year-old, who was owned by Bobby Burke from Mountbellew in Co Galway, beat Blue Charm by 10 lengths at Liverpool and was also successful in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse a year earlier when he beat another subsequent Aintree hero, Papillon.
