Walsh Cup SH/UCD 2-15 Dublin 0-13:UCD accounted for Tommy Naughton's Dublin side in a Walsh Cup game that was switched to the Thomas Davis grounds on Kiltipper Road yesterday. UCD featured three of the Dublin under-21 Leinster-winning team. Tomás Brady started at corner back while Ross O'Carroll and Joey Boland played up front.

The signs were good for Dublin earlier on with Pádraig O'Driscoll, Johnny McCaffrey and David O'Callaghan firing them into a 0-3 to 0-1 lead.

O'Callaghan, who had featured prominently for Dublin in last year's O'Byrne Cup and National League campaigns before departing for America, was sharp at the top of the right. He showed great hands to escape his marker before firing Dublin into a double-scores lead at the halfway stage.

And although Kilkenny's Maurice Nolan cut the deficit shortly afterwards, O'Callaghan played a lovely one-two with Alan McCrabbe to re-establish a two-point lead for Dublin.

O'Callaghan added his fourth on 22 minutes but UCD, after a score from Offaly's Brendan Murphy, grabbed their first goal on 28 minutes. Niall Curran, Murphy and Joey Boland worked the ball into Nolan, who drilled a low ball past Gary Maguire.

They followed up with four points (three from Nolan) before David Curtin landed an injury-time free for Dublin to leave UCD ahead 1-8 to 0-7 at the interval.

Although Stephen Nolan opened up a five-point gap for the students shortly after the restart, Dublin landed points from O'Callaghan, Peter O'Boyle, Curtin and Kevin Flynn to leave them just a point in arrears.

Again UCD picked it up and having advanced the score to 1-13 to 0-12 claimed their second goal when Tommy Fitzgerald got goal-side of his marker before shooting low into the far corner.

Dublin had a goal chance after that but Stuart Mullen could only find the side netting
