"MY TOUR is back on the right road and so is that of the team," was how try scoring hero John Bentley reacted to his score and the Lions victory. I would not say it was the best try I have ever scored," said the former rugby league international, who reflected on his poor match last Saturday and his disappointment at being substituted against Northern Transvaal.

But Bentley was not inclined to take the credit for victory. "We'll get the headlines, but it was the forwards who put in the tremendous hard work. We just put the ball over the line really," he said.

Lions manager Fran Cotton and coach Ian McGeechan were delighted at the result. "We hear a lot about Southern hemisphere rugby, but it the northern hemisphere who won out there and scored those two great tries.

"I though the pack was excellent. We defended very well in the first half, but at times lacked the patience to make it pay. But I was delighted with the second half performance," said McGeechan.
