LONGFORD SFC FINAL: Clonguish 0-9 Dromard 1-5:A POINTED free from Paul Barden four minutes into additional time saw Clonguish capture the county title at Pearse Park yesterday afternoon.
Clonguish had been the better team but it looked like lady luck had deserted them as they entered into the five minutes of additional time two points in arrears. But a point apiece from Ciarán Williams, David Barden and the winning score from Paul Barden meant the Connolly Cup would go to Newtownforbes.
Two points from Paul Barden in the space of three minutes gave the Clonguish side a two-point lead entering the final seven minutes of the game.
Dromard appeared to be out of the game at this stage but they never gave up. With four minutes remaining they turned a two-point deficit into a one point lead. Jamesie Martin’s effort came off the crossbar and Ronan McEntire fisted the ball to the net.
The sides were level again two minutes into stoppage time and one minute later Barden put over the winning score.
