Seve Ballesteros has entered for the French Open in two weeks' time as he bids to get in some much needed tournament practice ahead of this year's British Open.

The 49-year-old Spaniard has not played an official tour event since last October's Madrid Open, citing lack of proper practice for delaying the start to his season.

Last year in Madrid when he returned after an absence of two years, Ballesteros predicted he would play 10-12 tournaments in 2006 but that target in now highly unlikely.

Ballesteros has always insisted he would play this year's British Open, which he has won five times, after missing the major for the last four years. His entry was confirmed by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club today.
