Athlone CC 0-9 St Peter's 0-3: Athlone Community College served strong notice that they are a genuine force in the race for this year's Leinster Colleges SFC A title with an impressive quarter-final win over a fancied St Peter's, Wexford, at Éire Óg's ground in Carlow.
Westmeath side swept in to an 0-6 to 0-1 interval lead having played with the wind at their backs.
The midland college deservedly reached the semi-finals. Athlone full forward Ian Coffey notched 0-5 (0-3 from frees), which was a vital factor in what was a low-scoring game.
