Why are children driven to school?

A chara, – I’m sure I’m not the only one enjoying the lighter morning traffic now that the schools are closed. It begs the questions: why do parents drive their children to school and why can’t we have a good school transport system? In an age where our children do not take enough exercise, children should be encouraged to cycle to school or walk – even some of the way – instead of being brought door to door. Surely school buses could run in bus lanes and parents could either drop children to pick-up points or indeed let them walk? – Is mise,
