Sir, - In Tom Harper's letter (July 11th) he mentions the discovery of a fossilised whale with rudimentary limbs as a link in evolutionary time between land and sea animals. Surely this proves that whales moved from land to sea, and not the other way around.

Furthermore, it is questionable whether the sea is as old as some biologists would make out (when you measure the amount of rock salt dissolved in it). - Yours, etc.,
