Sir, - I have watched with interest the archaeological excavations in Temple Bar, near Essex Gate. During these, a square piece of wall was revealed on the east side of the site. To my, admittedly untrained, eye, it seemed to have the same stonework as the few remaining pieces of the medieval city wall.
Since then, however, this artefact seems to have vanished without trace. Could somebody please reassure me that I haven't witness the butchery of yet another piece of Dublin's heritage for the sake of another Temple Bar pub? - Yours, etc.,
