Madam, - Your excellent Editorial of March 16th, "UN's Inadequate Action in Darfur", highlights one of the most serious humanitarian tragedies on the planet.
Sadly, due to sheer indifference on the part of the international community and the feeble nature of the Security Council in particular, the nightmare will endure for 1.8 million vulnerable people in this hell-hole.
The points articulated in the Editorial are well-made and accurate. You rightly called for protection for the people at risk. This we too have sought for more than 15 months, but to no avail. If there is a single reason why the Security Council of the United Nations should be retained in its present form, I would love to hear it. - Yours, etc.,
