A chara, – A TD living within 25km of Leinster House receives €12,000 per annum for travel and accommodation unvouched. I can’t fathom why they need this allowance, which amounts to €118.81 per day (based on 101 days of sitting in 2010).
I understand that two TDs declined to take this allowance, something that I respect them for but it’s a pity that all others are claiming this. Until benefits like this and others are removed I will continue to have little or no faith, respect or trust in Irish politicians. – Is mise,
