Sir, I read with absolute disgust the scale of costs awarded to Mr. Larry Goodman on foot of his legal representation at the Beef Tribunal, and subsequently of the awards (irony of ironies!) to Messrs. McGiolla and Rabbitte. The taxpayer has already paid both the enormous EU fine on the foot of the "irregularities" uncovered in the beef industry, and the exorbitant cost of the ineffective Tribunal which failed to identify the source of the fraud and the culprits.
The taxpayer also faces the possibility of a further massive payout if Goodman International succeed in their claim against the State in respect of withdrawn Export Credit Guarantees. The absence of any real protest on the part of those taxpayers serves simply to demonstrate the degree of alienation they feel from the self serving, politico legal establishment which purports to serve and represent them.
