Madam, – In order to encourage tourists to come on motoring holidays to Ireland, why not allow them to reclaim the tax on petrol used on their car hire? The car hire companies keep a record of the mileage done, so administration would be simple and abuse difficult. It would encourage tourism and its very innovation would help provide publicity.
