Sir, My copy of The Concise Oxford English Dictionary (Seventh Edition 1983) has under Albion a reference to "Perfidious Albion" which it explains is a reference to Britain's "alleged treachery to other nations". If this reference has not already been changed, I would suggest that in future editions the editors should drop the "alleged" at least do so in copies produced for the Irish market.
