Sir, – Regarding the litter problem (Sean Smith, March 11th), I wish to ask a question and make a suggestion. Has any politician noticed the litter on the side of our roads? Plastic bottles, cans and cardboard cups are everywhere. Is there a politician that has the interest to do anything about it? Surely the time has come to introduce a tax on plastic bottles and on cans? With the quantity of them on the side of our roads it would be a nice little earner for the Government or anybody willing to pick them up. I suggest 10 cent per item with a 5 cent rebate given in return for empties. – Yours, etc,
