Teachers' pay dispute

Sir, - Members of the public, particularly parents, have very short memories. The selfless, time-consuming extra-curricular activities engaged in by very many of the teaching profession was suddenly forgotten during the ASTI dispute. Maybe it's time now that teachers read the writing on the wall and learned the lesson staring them in the face: do only what you're paid for and no more.

Possibly I'm a slow learner, but after 25 years at the chalk face I think I've finally got the message. - Yours, etc.,
