Taoiseach's partner

Sir, - I join Mary Collins (January 28th) in congratulating Alison Brennan on her excellent letter. Like Ms Collins, I note the silence of the media on the matter. However, what I find most disturbing is the absence of any expression of disapproval from our politicians. Surely there must be one or two of them who are less than happy with the Taoiseach's behaviour.

One is not surprised at the silence of Fianna Fail personnel. The declared unwillingness of even senior members of that party shows what a meek and submissive bunch are the Soldiers of Destiny. But what of those other supposedly principled persons: John Bruton, Nora Owen, Mary Harney, Des O'Malley, Ruairi Quinn, Dana. . .They have uttered not a word.

What a gutless bunch are our political representatives. - Yours, etc.,

Terry O'Neill, Retreat Road, Athlone.
