Sir, - I was surprised to read (April 21st), that the extent of illegal animal movement in the country came as "a surprise" to the Department of Agriculture's investigative team.
Given the moral standards adhered to by our brown-envelope politicians, double-jobbing councillors and other Irish paragons of virtue, I think the real surprise is that it came as a surprise!
