Strikes and industrial unrest

Sir, – We have an extremely generous corporation tax rate in this country. Everyone is also perfectly aware that if that rate were ever put in doubt, capital would flow out at a rapid rate. As a nation, we appear to be perfectly accepting of this implicit threat, and one seldom if ever hears a complaint.

Yet when ordinary workers seeking a pay rise are forced to withdraw their own services, the only response one hears is complaints about greedy workers. Do we really have one rule for big business, and another for workers? – Yours, etc,

COLM O’MAHONY,

Greystones, Co Wicklow.
