Sir, - Kudos to Martyn Turner for his front-page political cartoon of Friday, January 23rd [likening the peace process to the Titanic]. His illustration, although politically incorrect in many circles, hits the nail on the head.
In spite of all the political rhetoric on both sides of the issue, not one of the mediators is willing to accept the fact that no matter how much bailing is done it will not compensate for the inevitable and irreversible flood that pours through the mammoth gaps in ideology.
Must we be reminded that Northern Ireland is not Noah's Ark? If it were it would contain a cargo of rational creatures. Sound the "abandon ship" alarm, Mr Mitchell. The sooner the better. - Yours, etc.,
