Sir, - Jim Cantwell (August 23rd), director of the Catholic Press and Information Office, seems to have problems with Mary Raftery's intention to write a book on industrial schools, suggesting that she should instead forward her contributions to the Government commission of inquiry on child abuse.
If only the bishops who became aware of child-abusing priests in their dioceses had taken the same view about passing relevant information on to the authorities. Yours, etc.,
Niall Morrissey, Hawthorn Park, Swords, Co Dublin.
