Sir, – In the interests of transparency, we should require all Oireachtas-printed promotional material, such as Christmas cards and calendars, to contain the following: “This printing has been done as part of a batch costing the taxpayer €X thousand. This card and postage cost you €Y.” We should have the option on our voter registration form of unsubscribing from this mailing list. A box could be added to polling cards to tick to unsubscribe, and at the next election we could democratically tell our representatives that we do not want them spending our money this way. – Yours, etc,
