Sir, - Regarding Andy Pollak's recent article on the Church of Scientology, I
must point out that this religion is not based on "Dianetics". as claimed. In fact "Dianetics" is only a subject of Scientology, a far more comprehensive subject. Scientology is an applied religious philosophy based on the remise that each human is an immortal spiritual being, which occupies a body and possesses a mind. This being has lived many lifetimes.
The continual inaccurate portrayal of Scientology in your newspaper, without any redeeming features, is both illogical and unfair. The Church of Scientology has just been chosen as the outstanding charitable organisation in California by the US police And Los Angeles City Council has recently renamed a street after Scientology's founder, the late L. Ron Hubbard.
Surely it's not 109 much to ask for a little balance in your reporting on my religion. The propaganda of the bigots has enough media ventriloquists without the Irish Times joining the line-up.
