Sir, – Listening to the Bishop of Raphoe apologise again and again, for the mistakes of his predecessors made my blood boil. A mistake is when a schoolboy gets his sums wrong.

The word “cover-up” however, seems to get stuck in the craw of the bishop.

This from the educated elite, who are no dab hand at carefully choosing words, to confuse, control, and make people feel fearful and guilty. In the words of One in Four, they still haven’t got it. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Patsy McGarry calls for credit where it is due for the church (Opinion, December 1st). Credit for doing what a good human being should do as a bare minimum? I think not.
