Madam, – Not a member of Fianna Fáil and unlikely to vote for them at the next general election, I write because of my abhorrence of half-truths and innuendo.

I wonder whether any of the highly judgmental “reporters”/journalists commenting on our Tánaiste has any real and personal experience of her work? I do, albeit on a single national issue which arose a few years ago. At the time, Ms Coughlan took direct personal control, chaired key negotiations, showed ample evidence of doing her homework and skilfully led both parties to a lasting resolution.

I doubt that she is being treated fairly at present. – Yours, etc,
