Sir, – I was sorry to see your obituary of Emmet Larkin (April 7th) repeating the canard that he never read the historical work of fellow scholars, because he was too busy writing history himself. Anyone who had ever visited him in his own study would have seen his desk piled high with the latest volumes of Irish history, from the 16th century to the present, to be read. – Yours, etc,
