Madam, – On Monday, for the first time in 45 years or so, I considered not buying The Irish Times, because of all the gloomy news.
However, your photograph of John Hallahan, the veteran of the Arctic convoys (Front page), caught my eye. What a wonderful story! Your supplement on Kilkenny and Smithwick’s was a real bonus, bringing back many happy memories. Diarmaid Ó Muirithe (Words We Use) and John Grenham (Irish Roots) were, as always, a delight. €1.80 well invested. – Yours, etc,
