Madam, - It is disturbing to read almost daily accounts in your pages of groups of residents opposing the siting of mobile telephone masts near schools. The report on non-ionising radiation issued last June by the Joint Committee on Communications, Marine and Natural Resources recommended that guidelines be examined with a view to ensuring that telephone mobile masts would not be sited near health centres, schools, playgrounds and other sensitive areas. The efforts of concerned groups is welcome, but should not be necessary nine months later. - Yours, etc,
