Pride in charity volunteers

Sir, – Please allow me to congratulate Dominic MacSorley of Concern on his fine letter praising the work of charity volunteers at home and overseas (December 27th).

We need now more than ever to emulate their sense of selflessness, their refusal to surrender to cycnicism or a sense of hopelessness, and their ability to see what needs to be done and to do it.
