Pricey package for four matches

Madam, – How nice it would be, I thought, to take the family to the new Aviva Stadium to see one of the autumn internationals. However, imagine my disappointment when checking the IRFU web page for ticket availability to find that “Tickets for the four November internationals will be sold as a package. Any person wishing to purchase a ticket for any one of the games must also purchase the same ticket for the other three games.” So for a family of four, the price would be at least €1,360. Much as I would like to attend all four games, I would not be able, not just because of the cost but also due to other commitments.

The same applies to the RBS Six Nations games: tickets for the France and England games will be sold as a package. Does the IRFU not recognise that in the current financial climate this is clearly too expensive and puts sporting events out of the reach of ordinary families? Why can’t it sell tickets for individual games?

Or maybe other places of entertainment such as cinemas could join in on the act? If you want to see one film, maybe the cinema could force you to buy a ticket for all films being shown that month? – Yours, etc,
