Madam, – Archbishop Diarmuid Martin’s reiteration (Breaking News, May 19th) that “strong forces” impede him as he pursues his child-abuse aims prompt me to draw attention to another set of related anonymous “strong forces”.
For some time now a number of lay Catholics have been requesting our bishops to have “Lord, heal the wounds of abuse, Lord hear us” inserted into Mass Prayers of the Faithful. We have spelt out our reasons for believing that that simple, inexpensive measure would be of great value.
Yet, strong forces of some kind have stopped our bishops from even commenting on our request. – Yours, etc,
