Madam, - The Office of Public works is to be commended for the recent introduction of bicycles for hire to tour the Phoenix Park. To counter this good deed it then introduced a number of aged, repainted diesel-engined buses. These antiquated polluters trundle around the park with a few tourists on board.
As a daily visitor to what must surely be regarded as the last "lung" of Dublin city, I fink it beggars belief that the OPW doesn't take a lead from Dublin Zoo and introduce a battery-operated train for the tourists. - Yours, etc,
