Madam, – As a former TD and councillor I agree with David Buttimer’s opinion (January 14th) on the proposals by John Rogers (January 10th) with one additional proposal, that the Ceann Comhairle be elected to the Dáil by the electorate and thus ensure total impartially in dealing with the business of the chamber and that the Leas Ceann Comhairle be elected by all the TDs. A debate should take place as soon as possible and enable speedy reforms. – Yours, etc,
