Sir, – I pay dearly for the Sky Sports channels but now I, and many thousands like me, are expected to pay much more for the pleasure of watching Pro 14 and Heineken Cup Rugby and PGA Golf throughout the winter. I am not sure which channel the Ryder Cup golf is to be broadcast on.
This is a sad time for us older watchers. The only recourse will be the pubs in the hope that they will subscribe to the new channels.
This is an unhealthy way in which to promote sport.
I am particularly disappointed about the loss of rugby on my screen and appeal to the rugby authorities to take this factor into account when signing big broadcasting deals.

Greed is a terrible word especially in regard to sport. The only way to get the message through to the broadcasters and the sports authorities is to not subscribe to any of the sports channels for at least a year. – Yours, etc,
