Sir, - May I clarify a point in Padraig Mannion's letter (July 25th)? Opus Dei's role does not go beyond providing help to its members (and to anyone else who would like it) to develop their spiritual lives and deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith. It has no political or social agenda and has absolutely no desire nor mechanism for pursuing one. To assume otherwise is to be unfamiliar with the reality. - Yours, etc.,
