Madam, - I refer to the article in today's Irish Times (March 27th) on the Government's request to the HSE to divert funds from nursing home care.
Last year, the HSE's recruitment freeze reduced the level of home care packages issued to enable older people live at home rather than in a nursing home.
Would it not be more appropriate if the unused nursing home
funds were diverted to home care packages and at least older people
living at home would benefit in an environment they clearly prefer?
